Online Sales: How to Build or Improve your Website

Storefront businesses have more competition because consumers are finding what they want online. Every major retail competitor has added online purchasing as an option to their physical sites in order to keep their sales flowing.

The upside of this is that sales transactions can happen virtually anywhere when the business owner sets up shop online. Rural areas can benefit tremendously when they can sell to anyone, anywhere, and anytime.

What’s the first step? Website presence is key. Google searches replaced the Yellow Pages a long time ago. Any business that is still operating without a decent website is losing potential sales. Once your website is built, the next steps are to link to social media sites and identify your ideal customer, and the last is to offer customers a process to purchase your product online.

The Nevada Small Business Development Center has been awarded a grant to bring a 3-part workshop series to Elko, NV that teaches small business owners how to sell online. This is a one-time opportunity to 20 Elko small businesses, and the first workshop will be offered June 10th at Great Basin College. Seating is limited, and people interested are encouraged to register immediately at www.nsbdc.org on our training calendar. Full course details are also provided on each event page.
