Family Resource Center is hosting a FREE Healthy Teens program for youth in grades 8th-12th (minimum age 13) in Elko. Held at the Family Resource Center, 331 7th St, on Saturday, Feb. 15th from 9:00am-4:00pm. Permission slips are required, signed by parent/guardian before class. Lunch will be provided. Participants who complete the program will receive a FREE backpack filled with school supplies or a $25 gift card to Marshalls or Kohl's. (One incentive per student per year.)
The "Making Proud Choices" curriculum from ETR.org is a fun, evidence-based, age-appropriate program, proven effective in reducing the risk of sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, and teen pregnancy. This program incorporates medically accurate information along with crucial knowledge on how to identify and handle social pressures. Youth learn about reproductive health, hygiene, responsibility, healthy relationships, effective communication, personal safety, and build their knowledge and confidence.
