About Us

L.A.S.S.O. (Local Animal Shelter Support Organization), a non-profit organization, was formed in Elko in 2006 to raise funds to build a spay/neuter clinic. Through grants, individual and corporate donations, and bequests from two estates, The Dumke-Weeks Spay Neuter Clinic was built. The clinic is named after two benefactors: Val Dumke and Antje Weeks. In February 2010, the clinic became operational. Since 2011, the first full year of the operation, over 6,000 surgeries have been performed.

What We Have Accomplished: L.A.S.S.O. successfully raised enough money for the purchase of a modular building that houses the Spay/Neuter Clinic, as well as, all of the equipment and medical supplies needed to open the clinic. We have funded a renovation of the existing shelter, built a new outdoor bonding/exercise area, installed a security system, and were able to hire two part-time Veterinarians
